Building What Lasts: Reflections from the NMIMS Startup Summit, Chandigarh

Location: Chandigarh

16th October 2025) — At the Startup Summit, NMIMS Chandigarh, Mohit Bansal, Founder & CEO of GMI Infra and Governing Council Member at TiE Chandigarh, shared that the event carried something rare — an honest, grounded energy about building things that truly last.

Reflecting on the day, he shared a few timeless reminders for every young builder, dreamer, and doer:

1️⃣ Fix the basics.
Big visions start small — with predictable systems, clear rules, and reliable infrastructure. When the foundation is strong, founders can fly.

2️⃣ Invest in people, not just projects.
Technology evolves rapidly, but it’s people — their talent, skill, and passion — that sustain growth. Every hour spent skilling locally multiplies impact globally.

3️⃣ Policy must meet practice.
Real transformation happens when government, academia, and industry collaborate with intent. That’s when ideas stop being slogans and start becoming outcomes.

4️⃣ Think beyond metros.
India’s next wave of innovation won’t just come from its biggest cities. Tier-2 towns, districts, and emerging ecosystems hold immense untapped potential. The future belongs to inclusive growth.

Mohit Bansal was also honored with a memento of “Deep Appreciation for Your Valuable Contribution as Distinguished Expert.”
He humbly dedicated this recognition to the larger entrepreneurial community — mentors, peers, and young founders — who believe that progress isn’t built in headlines, but in persistence.

“If you’re building something that connects infrastructure, talent, and impact — I’d love to hear your story. Because real change begins when passionate minds come together.”
Mohit Bansal
Founder & CEO, GMI Infra | Governing Council, TiE Chandigarh

Mohit Bansal at CII RealEstate360 — Reimagining India’s Growth through Industrial and Tech Infrastructure

Location: Chandigarh

He shared two key insights that continue to shape his perspective:

1. Industrial Parks are the true game-changers.
In today’s landscape, compliance with environmental norms and regulatory standards — from ETPs and STPs to power clearances — is non-negotiable. Smart Industrial Parks simplify all of this by offering centralized facilities, reliable power, and plug-and-play infrastructure.
This lets businesses focus on what they do best — production — while improving productivity, compliance, and overall efficiency. Across several states, particularly in the South and Uttar Pradesh, industries are choosing such parks for precisely this reason. Industrial parks are not just land parcels; they are engines of regional growth.

2. Mohali’s real advantage lies in IT and Talent.
While not a port city, Mohali holds something equally powerful — access and people. With its IT city located minutes from the airport, affordable real estate compared to metros like Bangalore or Hyderabad, and a deep talent pool, Mohali stands out as a prime destination for tech growth in North India.
When infrastructure, skill development, and smart real estate planning come together, Mohali can become the next major tech and innovation hub.

Mohit Bansal summed it up with two simple principles:
Solve the fundamentals first — infrastructure, environment, and utilities.
Build around people — because talent and affordability ultimately define sustainable markets.

As he concluded, “If you’re a policymaker, developer, or investor — let’s collaborate to turn policy into projects and projects into livelihoods.”

Honoured to be speaker at InfraCon 2025 — the BRICS CCI Chandigarh Chapter summit at Hyatt Centric, Chandigarh on 26 September 2025

Date: September 26, 2025
Location: Hyatt Centric, Chandigarh

Mohit Bansal, CEO of GMI Infra, shared his reflections on the day, noting that infrastructure is never just about engineering — it’s a promise about how people will live, work, and move for decades.

He added a few key takeaways from the discussions:

Integrated townships must be envisioned as complete ecosystems — combining jobs, homes, schools, sports, and logistics — rather than isolated developments.
PPP models should evolve beyond one-time bids toward ongoing, program-based delivery. Bankable project preparation, measurable KPIs, and smart risk management will help attract and sustain private investment.
Technology and sustainability are now central to value creation — from grid-ready data centers to low-carbon construction and intelligent operations.

He concluded that collaboration across BRICS and BRICS+ nations holds strong potential, where shared pilots, blended finance, and interoperable standards can accelerate infrastructure delivery at scale.

Building India’s Skill Ecosystem: Insights from “Kaushal Manthan” in Chandigarh

Date: August 28, 2025
Location: Chandigarh

At GMI Infra, we believe that real growth is built on strong foundations—not just of concrete and steel, but of people and their skills.

The Kaushal Manthan event in Chandigarh was a powerful reminder of this vision. Leaders from across India came together with a shared mission: to make skill development the backbone of India’s progress.

A standout takeaway was the ambitious plan to upgrade 1,000 ITIs into Centres of Excellence, backed by a ₹60,000 crore investment. This initiative isn’t just about numbers; it’s about shaping futures, creating opportunities, and giving dignity to skilled work across every corner of the country.

For us in the real estate sector, this vision resonates deeply. Infrastructure builds cities, but skills build people—and both must grow hand in hand if we are to create a truly developed India.

Some days leave us thoughtful. Some leave us inspired.
Kaushal Manthan did both.
